How it works
Countdowns work for anything with a date: exams, launches, weddings, retirement, the next vacation. Because the whole state lives in the URL, you can bookmark one, pin it in a group chat, or put it in a calendar note. The tiles tick every second while the tab is open and are recomputed from your device clock, so they can't drift.

How does the shareable link work?
The target date and title are encoded directly in the URL's query string — nothing is stored on a server. Anyone opening the link sees the same countdown, computed live in their own browser.
What timezone does the countdown use?
The viewer's local timezone. A countdown to 'midnight January 1st' hits midnight in each viewer's own timezone — ideal for personal deadlines; for a single global moment (like a stream start), share the time in UTC and note it in the title.
Does the countdown keep running if I close the tab?
There's nothing to keep running — the remaining time is recomputed from the target whenever the page opens. Close it for a week, reopen the link, and it's exactly right.
