How is reading time calculated?
At 200 words per minute — the widely used average for silent adult reading. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, a comfortable presentation pace. Both round up, so a 250-word text shows 2 minutes.
Do emoji count as one character?
Here, yes — we count Unicode code points, so 😀 is one character. Some platforms count differently: X/Twitter counts most emoji as two characters, so treat the platform rows as close estimates near the limit.
